Inspiration
During Tihar, the festival of lights, homes across Nepal glow with oil lamps and strings of light, and the whole valley seems to shine. Weeks later, Christmas lights do the same around the world. Our Wishing Star garland celebrates that season of light, when every star seems to hold a wish.
Craft / Technique / Artisans
The stars begin as wet-felted wool, worked by hand with water and soap into dense, smooth sheets of felt. Each star is then cut, shaped and strung by women artisans in Nepal, carrying forward a Himalayan craft as old as wool itself. The small variations from star to star are the mark of something made by hand, not by machine.
