Inspiration:
In Nepal, the festive season arrives in marigold. Orange garlands hang over every doorway for Tihar, Kathmandu mornings turn frost-white, and evenings settle into a soft plum dusk. We took those colors (marigold, snow, plum, and festival red) and turned them into a set of ornaments that carries a Himalayan winter to your tree.
Description:
This set brings together four handmade felt Christmas ornaments:
a white-and-orange ornament
a plum-purple ball
a long red drop
an orange snowflake
They’re made of pure wool, so they’re light, soft and unbreakable. They’re as safe on a tree within reach of little hands as they are beautiful. The set arrives in a corrugated gift box with a note card telling the story of the women who made it, ready to give the moment it arrives. It’s a perfect festive gift for anyone who values slow, beautiful things made with meaning, and one you’ll unpack with joy every December.
Craft, Technique & Artisans:
Felt is the oldest textile known to humankind. It came before weaving and knitting. In the high Himalaya, wool felt has long been part of everyday life as warm clothing, blankets and rugs that kept the mountain cold at bay. Today, that ancient craft lives on in workshops across the Kathmandu Valley, in the hands of women artisans. Using the traditional wet-felting technique, they work wool with warm water and soap, rolling and pressing it until the fibers lock into dense, durable felt. Each ornament is then dried and finished by hand, so no two are exactly alike.
