Samridhi, a fashion enthusiast blends western ornaments with the eastern, she has been customizing and designing tikas for several years creating fun and captivating patterns. Tika is an eastern ornament, a simple dot in the forehead that protects the spirit and activates the third eye chakra. ‘Naritwa’ the unfolding womanhood session looked forward to beautiful and interesting patterns that you can customize tika with. The variation of tikas available and thinking outside the box made the event interesting and wholesome.
The event began at 5:00 pm, inside the flagship store of Né Nepal located in Sanepa, International Club. The first section of the event began with uncovering womanhood, the seventeen participants each wrote about their experiences on different themes surrounding womanhood. The interactive writing session uncovered the importance, delicacy, and transitions of womanhood in each participant's life. It was marked as a tribute to our mothers, the women around us, the women we were, and to the women we are to be.
The second segment of the event was the enticing tika event, where each participant delicately designed tikas all over their face, necks, shoulders, and on each other. Who could have thought you can use tika instead of eyeliner, or as an earring? It was amazing to see the limitless possibilities and creativity that filled our space. The mother daughter combo, and positive participation of men in the event made the evening as wholesome and empowering as it could be, proving that a simple tika can connect us to folds of womanhood.
The event brought us closer together as a community, reminding us of our roots, connecting us to the feminine, and reminding us about the powerful allure a simple tika holds.
